TARGET YOUR AGGRESSION Frequently in this poker column and many other poker articles you will read the battle cry to wield aggression when playing poker. To a completely new player this can send mixed messages. Let’s qualify that message and narrow things down to where aggression is really most effective. What you are attempting to do during an evening of play is create an image that you are an aggressive player. You can do this by raising pre-flop and by betting let’s say half the value of the pot on the flop itself.
CREATE THE ACTION If you do this when there’s not a lot of money at stake in a game you will still be creating an image of aggression which can very useful when that premium hand comes along. These type of games are also more fun than full table games. A short handed table guarantees continuous action and your brain is on fire making snap decisions all the time.
